Introducing Dessein’s newly named ‘Therry’ easy chair

January 29, 2015

We want to take this opportunity to congratulate Chris Hermann on winning our Easy Chair Naming Competition. The newly christened ‘Therry’ easy chair, designed by Jon Goulder for Dessein Furniture, holds a very special place in our hearts, as Dessein’s first limited edition and upholstered furniture piece.

‘Therry’, too, has special significance for us, named for Therry Street in Melbourne, where our first-ever Dessein Concept Store has been for the past 3 months.

Our Concept Store, which features a stunning installation by the DesignOffice, celebrates our 10 Degrees campaign and the release of 5 new Australian-designed furniture items into the Dessein range.

But back to our ‘Therry’ chair and winner of the naming rights: Chris Hermann.

Chris works in the Australian property industry in areas of commercial and mixed-use developments, so he is familiar with the ins-and-outs of architecture and interior design. “It highlights your focus on materials and products that are contemporary, well designed, and often sustainable based on the materials used in manufacture,” he says.

“The design of the Therry chair definitely suits the Australian market well, with its generous proportions. Made from timber it has a natural, warm feel. It's a very easy chair to relax in – and read a book in if you want, or have it complement other pieces of furniture in an existing space.”

Thanks Chris for your comments and we hope you continue to enjoy the Therry in your home.
